RESPONSIBLE EDITING · STUDIO JOURNAL

Keep the original. Be clear about permission.

A beautiful edit is only useful when you can use it appropriately. Keep an untouched copy and record which version you deliver.

Separate editing from promotion

Permission to edit an image is different from permission to display it on a website or in an advertisement. A release should identify the photographs, intended use and any restrictions. Copyright and a person’s likeness can involve different permissions.

Make changes visible when needed

Review relevant listing, advertising or publishing requirements before sharing. Avoid using an edited image as unaltered evidence or to imply an inaccurate fact about a person, product or property.

Use a release as a starting point

The admin template separates processing permission from optional marketing permission. Complete its placeholders and obtain advice for the intended jurisdiction and use. An unsigned template is not consent.
